Mr. Johnny Wilcox, 72, of Crossett, AR, died Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville, AR. He was a native of Portland, AR, but had resided in Crossett for the past 40 years, was a carpenter, and was a member of Rolfe Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Wayne Lyons, his parents, Don Herbert & Manthy Knight Wilcox, two brothers, Sam & Robert Wilcox, two sisters, Judy Ross & Edith Winbury. Johnny was an avid outdoorsman. He loved riding four wheelers, deer hunting and fishing. He also loved remodeling homes, he ran Johnny's Remodeling Company for 33 years.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Effie Leone Wilcox, three sons: Eddie Lyons, wife Debbie of Talequah, OK, Allen Lyons, wife Stephanie of Crossett, AR, Don Allen, wife Anita of Hamburg, AR, three daugthers, Gayle Farrow, husband Mitchell of Muskogee, OK, Wanda Carpenter, husband John of Fountain Hill, AR, Rita Coleman, husband Thomas of Crossett, AR, two adopted sons: Mike Derrick of Crossett, AR & Tim Chapman, wife Sonya of Lacey, AR, two brothers: Gordon Wilcox, wife Joyce & Charles Elba "Bud" Wilcox, wife Marcia both of Crossett, AR, one sister, Shirley Lyons of Crossett, AR, eighteen grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, his dog Chuckie and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Funeral services are Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 3:30 pm at Rolfe Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Carlton White & Bro. Charles Harris, officiating. Active pallbearers are Johnathan Wilcox, Jason Farrow, Ralph King, Jr., Joshua King, Benjamin Wilcox & Zachery Wilcox. Honorary pallbearers are Bradley Lyons & Lee Jacob King. Burial in Rolfe Chapel Cemetery.
Visiation Friday, June 12, 2015 from 6-8 pm in the chapel of Cromwell Funeral Home.
