Mrs. Joe Ella Johnson, 85 of Crossett, AR, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at her home surrounded by family. She was a native of Coatopa, AL but a resident of Crossett, AR for the past 60 + years. Mrs. Johnson was a retired Forklift Operator for Georgia-Pacific paper mill where she played an instrumental role as a member of Union #0369. She was a devoted member of Davis Memorial Church of God in Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Johnson, her parents, Preston and Callie Williford-Simmons, and one brother, Melvin Simmons. After retirement she served as a Cancer Survivor Luncheon volunteer. She also enjoyed talking on the phone with family and friends, reading, completing word search puzzles, playing her guitar and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by son, Rahmel King of Little Rock, AR and daughter, Melanie King-Lewis and husband Richard of Jacksonville, AR; five brothers, Joe Lewis Simmons and wife Pearlie of Grenada, MS, William Simmons of Crossett, AR, Douglas Simmons and wife Ferry of Little Rock, AR, Alvin Simmons of Scott, AR, and Bobby Simmons and wife Linda of Jonesboro, GA; four sisters, Effie Danzy of North Little Rock, AR, Ida Rogers of Jacksonville, AR, Lecester Brown and husband George of Coatopa, AL and Evelyn Moore and husband Sie of Scott, AR; four grandchildren, LeRoy Kitchen and wife Akaya, LeRondres Kitchen, RahShonda King and RahNell King.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Davis Memorial Church of God In Christ in Crossett with Elder LeRoy Kitchen, Jr. officiating. Active pallbearers are Mario Brown, LeRondres Kitchen, Dedrin Momon, Robert Danzy, William Simmons, and Patrick Sworn. Honorary pallbearers are her nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held Friday, April 8, 2022 5:30-6:30 at Cromwell Funeral Home Chapel.
