Mr. J.O. Johnson, 84 of Hamburg, AR, died Friday, July 19, 2013 at Stonegate Villa Health & Rehabilitation. He was a native of Banks, AR, a resident of Hamburg for the past 72 years and was a retired timber worker.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca Ann "Becky Ann" Miller, his mother, Viola Rochell, his father, Joel Johnson, his stepfather, Tony Rochell, one granddaughter, Shiree Johnson, one sister, Georgia Penn and one step-daughter, Carolyn Jacob. He loved the outdoors, and working in his vegetable garden. He also enjoyed watching westerns on TV.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Lucille Johnson of Hamburg, AR, one son, Adolphus Foster of Marks, MS, one daughter, Gail Johnson of Lake Village, AR, one step-daughter, Evelyn Bolar of Hamburg, AR, one sister, Virgie Jenkins, husband Parnell of Chicago, IL, fifteen grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren.

Funeral services are Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Soldiers Chapel A.M.E. with Rev. Willie R. Taylor, officiating. Pallbearers are Marvin Moore, Shon Jacob, Walter Jenkins, Dan Smith, Lawrence Booker and Alfred Robinson. Burial in Johnson Memorial Cemetery under the directions of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.
