James Henry Rogers was born in Crossett, Arkansas on February 18, 1938 to Joe Nathan Rogers and Margaret Stanley; He was affectionately known as Jim or J.R.
James graduated from T.W. Daniel High School in Crossett, Arkansas; He left Arkansas in 1961 to pursue life in the "California Sun." He received certificates from M.T.I. Business School and Institute of Advance Technology for Computer Operations, both in L.A. He also received a certificate for Data Processing Management Course from IBM. He worked many jobs to sustain his lifestyle and responsibilities. He retired as a Computer Operator from the City of Los Angeles in 2004. However, his most enjoyable job, if you could call it work, came from building and repairing things himself. He also took pleasure in gardening and sharing the fruits (vegetables) of his labor.
James loved the Lord and was a member of Emmanuel Temple C.M.E. He was very active on several ministries; too many to mention! He believed in serving the Lord in any capacity he could and he did it with love.
Preceding James in death are his father Joe Nathan Rogers, his mother: Margaret Stanley, and his nephew: Gregory.
On November 12, 2015 James passed at St. Mary's Hospital in Victorville, California and went on to be with The Lord. His departure from earth leaves many to mourn his absence but celebrating his life. He leaves his memories to his wife: Lillie Rogers; one sister, Annie Pearl Alexander; ten children: John (Sandra) Turner, Fred Turner, Emmanuel (Mary) Turner, Lorraine Jones, Anthony (Julie) Turner, Darlene Samuel, Donald (Darlene) McCline, Daphne (Jeffery) Mack, Lisa Rogers, Mark (Kellie) McCline; three nephews: Royal Lee, Benny, and Sammy; one niece: Annie Lee; His former wife: Ritza Rogers; best friends: Hyphen and Clara Jones; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.
Graveside funeral services were Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 10:30 am at Quinn Cemetery with Rev. Marvin Scott, officiating. Arrangements by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR. www.cromwellfuneralhome.net
