Prewitt
June 28, 1938 – October 22, 2019
Mr. James Albert Prewitt, 81, of Hamburg, AR died Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at Cornerstone Specialty Hospital in Little Rock, AR. He was a native of Fountain Hill, AR, a retired cemetery supervisor for Pinewood Cemetery, an employee of Jones Funeral Home for over 40 years, a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and proudly served in the United States Navy.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Maxine Lowe-Prewitt in January 2017; two sons, Raymond Prewitt, in 1981, and Leo Prewitt; his parents, Leo Prewitt and Margie Lee Johnson-Woods; two brothers, Nathaniel Woods and Robert "R.L." Woods; and two sisters, Curtistine Woods and Marvilline Knight. Mr. Prewitt was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, playing Dominos, and sitting around visiting with his coffee buddies.
He is survived by three sons, James Prewitt, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Brandon Prewitt, of Hamburg, AR, and Stevie Robinson, of Crossett, AR; five daughters, Tysa Prewitt, Janice Prewitt, and Shaletha Prewitt, and Shanta Forrest, husband Allen, all of Hamburg, AR, and Karen Waters, of Little Rock, AR; two brothers, John Woods, wife Cheryl, and Floyd Woods, both of Amite, LA; three sisters, Ruthie Woods, Lula Robertson, and Perry Valder, husband Victor, all of Amite, LA; eight grandchildren, Marekus Brewer, Dimitri Price, Denetrice Sims, Allen Forrest, Jr., Andravyon Forrest, Amari Forrest, Chloe Prewitt, and Courtney Prewitt; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Funeral Service will be Monday, October 28, 2019, 2:00 pm, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Willie R. Taylor officiating. Active Pallbearers are Allen Forrest, Sr., Johnny Cal Moore, Jeremy McFelson, Willie Stanley, Lawrence Booker, and Walter Jenkins. Honorary Pallbearers are Jessie Banks, George Howard, Jr., Alfred Robinson, Lawrence Tippie, Earnest Jenkins, Albert Johnson, Jr., Tommy Caldwell, and Muriel Rachal. Burial in Phillip Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 27, 2019, 5-6:00 pm, at Cromwell Funeral Home, Inc.
