Obituary

Mr. James Edward "Pete" Dawkins, 58 of Crossett, AR, died Tuesday, June 3 at his residence. Mr. Dawkins was a native of Ashley County,an employee of Georgia Pacific Paper Mill, and a member and Deacon of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lou Wallace & Lucille Douglass Dawkins, and one sister, Delois Campbell. He was a member of the following Masonic Houses: Master Mason, Royal Arch Mason, Knight Templar, Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite Mason 32 degrees & Heroines of Jerico. He held the following positions: Worshipful Master of Exodus Lodge #403, recorder for the Grand Lodge, Financial Secretary for H.J. Evans Grand Chapter, Commandery Knights Templar & District Secretary of #4 South.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Jacqueline Dawkins, one son, Chancie Williams III of Little Rock, AR, two daughters, Schnary Muse, husband Sylvester of San Diego, CA & Laqestia Dawkins of Little Rock, AR, one brother, Sherman "Bud" Dawkins, wife Belinda of Crossett, AR, one sister, Georgetta Waters of Crossett, AR, and two grandsons, Amauri Dawkins & Ronald Austin, Jr.

Funeral services are Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 2:00 PM at New Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Jesse Radford, Jr., officiating. Visitation Friday, June 6 from 6-8 PM at Cromwell Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Larry Rogers, Herman Newton, Curtis Harris, Larry Taylor, Freddie Hargrove & Larry Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Deacons of New Bethel Baptist Church and the T.W. Daniel Class of 1967. Burial in Westview Cemetery.
