Mr. Hoover Lewis, age 80, of Hamburg, AR, died December 17, 2008, at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock, AR. Mr. Lewis was a native of Boydell, AR, but a resident of Hamburg, AR, a retired laborer, and a member of Emanuel Church of God in Christ.

Preceded in death by parents, Isaac Lewis & Nancy Spratt Lewis; one brother, Roosevelt Lewis; one sister, Artensil Lewis Crook; and two sons, John H. Lewis & Keith Lewis. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Jenkins Lewis; one son, Kevin Lewis of Detriot, MI; four step-sons, Gregory Porter, Andre Porter, Levon Porter, Ronnie Porter all of Detroit, MI; one step-daughter, Luella Porter of Detroit, MI; one brother, Joseph Carlton of Montrose, AR.

Funeral services are Saturday, December 27, 2008, 11 a.m., at Soldiers Chapel AME Methodist Church, 906 Pine St., Hamburg, with Elder Jasper Mays officiating. Active Pallbearers are Gary Williamson, Arthur Wilson, Lee Edward Plummer, Donna F. Simpson, Jessie Banks, Richard Thompson, and Carl Cox. Honorary Pallbearers are nephews of the Lewis & Crook families. Visitation will be Friday, December 26, 2008, 5 - 6 p.m. at Cromwell Funeral Home. Burial at the Montrose Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home.
