Mrs. Georgia Mae Simpson, 94 of Houston, TX, formerly of Crossett, AR, died Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Willowbrook Methodist Hospital in Houston. She was a native of Ashley County, a retired teacher, a member of Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church, and an Eastern Star, past member of Silver Star #306.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Travis V. Simpson, her parents: James Girtman, Sr. & Lutter Girtman. Mrs. Simpson graduated from Philander Smith and Shorter College in Little Rock, AR, and taught in Arkansas Public School System for 40 years. She was also a faithful, dedicated & loyal member of Quinn Chapel Women's Missionary Society, and worked with all local societies where her husband pastored.

She is survived by one son, Raymond Simpson of Little Rock, AR, one daughter, Emma Horton of Houston, TX, three grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 13, 2014 at 11:00 am at Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church with Rev. Tyrone Broomfield, Rev. Jessie Washington, Rev. L.V. Tolefree, Rev. C.L. Lovett and Rev. Marvin Scott, officiating. Pallbearers are Leondrus Simpson, Michael Scott, Nathan Girtman, Dennis Girtman, J.P. Wright, Bruce Wright & Michael Girtman. Burial in Quinn Cemetery.

Visitation Thursday, June 12 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at Cromwell Funeral Home.
