Mr. George Thomas, 90, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his wife and children. He was a lifelong resident of Montrose, AR, a retired farmer, and a member of First Baptist Church in Montrose.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Riley and Bernice Thompson-Turner; one brother, William Riley. George loved his church and listening to gospel singing. He enjoyed riding horses and playing baseball in his younger years, later in life he loved watching baseball. He also enjoyed hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Addie Katheryn Jackson-Thomas; four sons, Freddie Lucas(Peggy) of Chicago, IL, George E. Thomas(Deloris) and Grealin Thomas(Cassandra) both of Seattle, WA, and Eric Thomas of Hamburg; six daughters, Georgetta Guyton(Arthur) of Peoria, IL, Azilee Leavell(Robert) of Cumberland, TN, Angela Price(Sam), Shelia Thomas, and Linda Thomas all of Seattle, WA, Anne Thomas of Murfreesboro, TN; one brother, Edward Earl Gillis(Juanita) of Montrose, AR; twenty-nine grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Services will be Friday, July 27, 2018 at 1:00PM at First Baptist Church in Montrose with Rev. Jim Hadley officiating. Active Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons and Trustees of the First Baptist Church. Burial in Montrose Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 5:30PM-6:30PM at Cromwell Funeral Home, Inc.
