Gipson
August 7, 1942 – February 23, 2025
Gene Gipson, 82 of Portland, AR, transitioned Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Arkansas Hospice in Little Rock, AR. He was native of Portland, AR, and a former resident of Milwaukee, WI. He was a retiree of Mid City Foundry Company, and of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Gipson was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Lilla Matheney Gipson. He was a hard worker. In his spare time he enjoyed watching sports especially football and basketball. He loved watching old westerns.
He is survived by his wife of fifteen years, Juanita Gipson, 3 sons, Brian and wife Mildred Hooks of Huntsville, AL, Thomas Shaw and Dewayne and wife Carolyn Shaw all of Milwaukee, WI, three daughters, Rosalind and husband Charles Terry of Clinton Township, MI, Marilyn Gipson of Detroit, MI, and Janice and husband Byron Lacey of Milwaukee, WI, two sisters, Jessie Harvey of Portland, AR, and Christine Harper of Pine Bluff, AR, six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and several other relatives and friends.
Visitation is Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Cromwell Funeral Home 3:00-4:00 P.M. Funeral service is Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at New Light Baptist Church in Portland, AR, with Rev. Henry Dickerson officiating. Active pallbearers are Joe Nathan Webb, David Robinson, Charles Bynum, Otis Bell, Kevin Woods, and Derrell Woods. Honorary pallbearers are Marcus Harper, Brian Hooks, Bruce Washington and Thomas Shaw. Burial in Portland # 2 Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, Arkansas.
