Obituary

Everlena Childs, 81 of Lake Village, AR transitioned on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Lake Village Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Care Center. She was a lifelong resident of Lake Village, a former nursing home employee, and a member of House of Prayer Church where she served as an usher.

Mrs. Childs was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Childs, Jr., one son, Norvell Childs, four sisters: Francis Huggins, Theresa Carter, Cleova Harris and Cliffa Mae Bateman; and her parents, James Jude and Everlena Watt Webb. She enjoyed cooking especially making hot tamales. She loved the Lord and going to church.

She is survived by four sons: Dwight Childs, Sr. "Joyce" of Jackson, MS, Sylvester Childs, Jr. "Shelia" of Las Vegas, NV, Freddie Childs and special friend Francis of Lake Village, and James Childs "Latricia" of Little Rock, AR; four daughters: Delois Gant "David," Patricia Nelson, and Tammie Marshall "Michael," all of Lake Village, and Rhonda Jones of Atlanta, GA; four brothers: James Webb of Seattle, WA, Eddie Webb and Willie Webb both of Lake Village, and Gannie Webb "Gloria" of CA; one sister, Mary Cole "Gerald" of Little Rock, AR; twenty-six grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Central Community Baptist Church in Lake Village, AR at 11:00 A.M. with Elder Ervin Hampton officiating. Pallbearers are: Norvell Childs, Jr., Rick Childs, Caleb Childs, Courtney Warren, Joshua Shaw, and Quinten Shaw. Honorary pallbearers: Dwight Childs, Sr., Sylvester Childs, Freddie Childs, and James Childs. Burial will be in New Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.
