Mrs. Eula Piller, age 94, of Crossett, died Saturday, January 10, at her home. She was a member of First Baptist Church, a retired school teacher. She taught elementary school in many districts throughout Arkansas, including, Jerome, South Bend (Gould), Boydell, Hurd, and Dermott. She also taught 6th grade in Glen Allen, MS. In Crossett, she taught at T.W. Daniels Elementary and Hastings Elementary Schools. She was an active member of American Association of Retired Persons, UAPB-AM&N Alumni Association, Arkansas Teachers Association, Arkansas Retired Teachers Association, Arkansas Education Association, National Education Association, also served as a commissioner of the Crossett Housing Authority.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Nelson Piller; son, Calvin Nelson Piller, Jr.; parents, Thomas & Mary Alice Kennon Brooks; and siblings. She is survived by two sons, Charles & wife, Faye Piller, of St. Louis, MO, and Thomas & wife, Marie Piller, of Chandler, AZ; two daughters, Mary & husband, Allen McKeel, of Kansas City, MO, and Delores Jean & husband, W.J. Matheney, of New Port Richey, FL; 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation with the family will be on Friday, January 16, from 6 - 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 108 North Florida St., Crossett. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 17, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Active pallbearers are Deacons: Tony Allen, George Brown, Willie Danzy, Jessie Lowe, Ed Rogers, Bro. Ralph Matheney, and Bro. Felton Tatum. Honorary Pallbearers are Charles Piller, Thomas Piller, W.J. Matheney, Earl Moore, Erik Matheney, David McKeel, Charles Faminu, Kevin Mathis, Terrence Dion Piller, and Levi Young, Jr. Burial will be at Westview Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home.
