Mr. Eugene Streeter, 87 of Crossett, AR died Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at his son residence in Pine Bluff, AR. He was a lifelong resident of Ashley County, a retiree of G.P. Paper Mill, and a member of Gates Chapel A.M.E. He was a Veteran of the United States Army who served during World War II.
He was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Moore, his parents, Lloyd and Florrie Brown Streeter, six brothers: Flemon, Edward, Morris, Arthur, Floyd and Lonnie Streeter, two sisters, Vertie Cann, and Martha Hays. He was a man who loved his God and Church. He worked faithfully in whatever capacity the church asked of him. He was a man who loved people and loved to talk. He was a lifetime member of the Duckworth hunting club, and an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. He had a great passion for working his vegetable garden which he gave to whomever needed fresh vegetables.
He is survived by his wife of sixty five years, Mrs. Jessie Mae Reese Streeter, six sons, James Jackson, wife Alma of Pine Bluff, AR, Donald Streeter, wife Blanch of Crossett, AR, Charles Streeter, wife Diana of Los Angeles, CA, Danny Streeter, wife Marian of Stockton, CA, Johnny Streeter of Fordyce, AR, Eddie "Chuck" Streeter, wife Janice of Pine Bluff, AR, one daughter, Shirley Wade of Crossett, AR, adopted daughter, Shirley Knox, husband Frank of San Leandro, CA, two sisters Rosa Watson of Crossett, AR, Louisa Brown of Los Angeles, CA, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Gates Chapel A.M.E. with Rev. Harriel White officiating. Visitation will be Friday, July 1, 2011 from 6:00-7:00P.M. at Cromwell Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Leslie Streeter, Greg Watson, James Scott, Bernard Martin, Angelo Moore, and Carl Whaley.
