March 6, 1946 – May 31, 2017
Rev. Elizabeth Annette Lenoir, age 71, of Crossett, passed away Wednesday May 31, 2017 at her residence. She was a native of Tallulah, LA but lived most of her life in Crossett. Mrs. Lenoir was a retiree of the Georgia-Pacific paper mill where she was a crane operator for many years. She was also an ordained minister. Mrs. Lenoir was a member of Gates Chapel, AME church and was a member of the Silver Star chapter 306 Order of the Eastern Star in Crossett. She graduated high school from the former T.W. Daniels High School in Crossett.
Mrs. Lenoir was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Lillie Buchanan Steel; one daughter, Ashley Dawson; two brothers, Williams and Nelson Dawson; two sisters, Lula Mae Stokes and Middy Whaley.
Mrs. Lenoir was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whom instilled strong Christian values in her family. She began her walk with Christ at an early age. God blessed her with a beautiful singing voice and she used this gift from God singing in the church choir and in Quartets such as Keystone Singers, Gospel Jubilee's, and N.E. Simpson Singers. She was called into the ministry in 1990. Over the years she had pastored churches such as St. James, A.M.E in Halley; St, James A.M.E in Lake Village; Green Grove A.M.E in Portland, Bethel A.M.E in Eudora; Oaklaone A.M.E in Banks, Mt. Olive A.M.E in Hermitage, and Mt. Zion, A.M.E. in Monticello.
She leaves to cherish in her memories her husband of 38 years, Willie Lenoir; two sons, Robert Thompson of Crossett and Jeremy Lenoir of Monroe, LA; three daughters, Felita Thompson, Margaret Lenoir and Stephanie Lenoir, all of Crossett; two brothers, Joe Steel of Kansas City, MO and Alex Dawson of Beloit, WI; three sisters Ruth Cox, Jo Alice Steel and Sarah Steel all of Kansas City, MO; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday June 7, 2017 from 6:00-7:30 pm at Cromwell Funeral Home in Hamburg.
Funeral services will be held Thursday June 8, 2017 at 11:00 am at Gates Chapel AME in Crossett with Rev. Debra Cooper and Pastor Harriel White officiating. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery in Crossett.
