Mr. Elijah Harris, age 69, of Crossett, AR, died Friday, September 18, at UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock, AR. Mr. Harris was a native of Parkdale, but a resident of Crossett for the past 48 years, a retired supervisor for Internation Paper, a member of Davis Memorial Church of God in Christ, an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie James "A.J." & wife, Levella McElroy Harris, one son, Tony Townsend, and one sister, Nettie Kimble.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Annie "Kittie" Harris, two sons, Anthony & wife, Sabrina Harris, of Inglewood, CA, and Terry McDaniel of Oaklawn, CA, one daughter, Sue Williams of Little Rock, AR, two brothers, A.J., Jr. & wife, Betty Harris, of Crossett, AR, & John H. Harris of Milwaukee, WI, five sisters, Ence Almighty of Milwaukee, WI, Minister Lucille Lewis Of Long Beach, CA, Dorothy Eason, Mildred Dotson & Mae Dean Oglesby all of Milwaukee, WI, 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are Wednesday, September 23, 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church on Florida Street, with Rev. Evandrew Washington officiating. Visitation is Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Pallbearers are Eddie Hawkins, Vince Bankston, Nakia Hawkins, Lee Fred Brown, Michael Townsend, Rev. Jessie Putney. Honorary pallbearers are Willie Ed Griffin Sr., Gary McDaniel, Patrick Thompson, Dewone Hollins, John Harris, Eugene Streeter, Herschel Ward, Gregory Newson, Freddie Walker and the H.T.G. Hunting Club. Burial at Westview Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home.
