Mr. Elbert Ray Johnson, 79, of Crossett, formerly of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Crossett Rehabilitation and Health Center. He was a native of Ashley County, growing up in the Pine Hill Community. He resided in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, over 40 years, before returning to Crossett. He was a member of Faith Center Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Sonny Johnson and America Tucker Williams; and a brother, Jack Pippen. He was faithful to his church, serving as an Usher, and was a faithful servant to his family and friends. Ray enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He had a kind spirit and would help anybody in need.
He is survived by one daughter, Dynette Compton, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; five grandsons, James Hardin, Domanick Holmes, Joseph Compton, Albert Compton, and Brian Washington; thirteen great grandchildren; one sister in law, Betty Pippen, of Hamburg, AR; a faithful cousin, Carl Lee Tucker, wife Gurtherine, of Crossett, AR; two special friends, Bennie Owens, of Monroe, LA, and Sandra Gibbs, of Champagne, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 22, 2018, from 5-6:00PM, at Cromwell Funeral Home, Inc.
Remains will be transferred to Reid's New Golden Gate Funeral Home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
