Mr. Earnest Sylvester Cromwell, 69 of Hamburg, AR, died Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the Ashley County Medical Center. He was a native of Hamburg, a former resident of Rockford, IL for forty years, and a resident of Hamburg for the past ten years. He was a Baptist, a retiree of Quaker Oats and had worked for Cromwell Funeral Home.
Mr. Cromwell was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe James & Rosetta Cason Cromwell and three brothers: Monroe Jr. "M.J.", Cardell & Cleotha "Buddy" Cromwell. His hobbies included playing dominoes and fishing.
He is survived by three sons: Earnest S. Cromwell, Jr., "Pops" of Hamburg, AR, Fentress Cromwell and Tyrone Cromwell, wife Carrie all of Moorehead, MN, one step-son, James Malone of Rockford, IL, one step-daughter, Wendy Malone of Rockford, IL, two brothers, Willie F. Cromwell, wife Doris of Crossett, AR, Lawrence Cromwell, wife Cheryl of Little Rock, AR, two sisters, Merlene Tucker, husband Jessie of Crossett, AR, Ruby Kelly, husband James of St. Louis, MO, twelve grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of other family, loved ones and friends.
Funeral services are Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 1:00 pm at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Jessie Radford, Jr., officiating. Pallbearers are Larry Rogers, William Tippitt, Walter Hendrix, Billy Kitchen, Ronald Hubbard and Eddie Colbert. Burial in Nimmons Cemetery under the directions of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.
Visitation Monday, August 19, 2013 from 6-7:30 pm at Cromwell Funeral Home.
