Mr. Dennis James Tanksley, 57 of Hamburg, AR (Mist Community) died Saturday, April 9, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Tanksley was a native of Jones, LA, but a resident of Hamburg for the past 49 years. He was a retiree of the Ashley County Road Department, and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Snyder.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Millard Frank and Virginia Woodard Tanksley, one brother, Larry Tanksley and one sister, Georgia Skender. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a member of Moyers Deer Camp. He also loved riding horses, but his family was more important than anything to him.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Clair Jo Tanksley, one son, Dennis James Tanksley, wife Susie of Hamburg, AR, one daughter, Virginia Denis "Jenny" Tanksley, companion Ramon of Lake Village, AR, two brothers: Reed Tanksley, wife Becky of Muscadine, AL, Donnie Tanksley, wife Catherine of Hamburg, AR, one sister, Lorraine Haynes of Wilmot, AR, and eight grandchildren: Bliss, Jasmine & Kaven Tanksley, Logan and Allen Cessor, Jessica Cendejas, J.C. Towe and Harley Lemons.

Funeral services are Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Fellowship Baptist Church with Bro. Elvin McDill and Bro. Danny Johnson officiating. Pallbearers are Bill Boyd, Thomas Martin, Brian Hall, Dennis Murphy, Earl McCrory and Chris Higginbotham. Honorary pallbearers are Lee Patrick, Leroy Whitaker, Floyd McCain & Emory Austin. Visitation Monday, April 11 from 6-8 pm at Cromwell. Burial in New Texas Cemetery.
