Cordie Brown, 85, of Wilmot, died Monday, January 4, 2010, at Chicot Memorial Hospital. He was a life-long resident of Wilmot, a retired farm laborer, and a member of the Union Baptist Church, where he served as deacon for over 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Sherman Brown, his parents, Edward & Daisy Bell Brown, and one brother, Willie Brown. He is survived by two sons, Charles Brown & wife, Sarah, of Crossett, and Cordie Brown, Jr., & wife, Angie, of Sioux City, IA, nine daughters: Mary Ann, Belinda, Robie, Brenda, & Marietta Brown, all of Wilmot, Jeanetta Vines of Bastrop, LA, Helen Burns & husband, Clarence, of Parkdale, Evelyn Clark & husband, Will, of Kansas City, KS, and Juanita Brown of Texarkana, AR, and one brother, Theophilus Brown of Monroe, LA, 29 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, January 8, 6-7 p.m., at Cromwell Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services are Saturday, January 9, 2:30 p.m., at the Union Baptist Church in Wilmot, with Rev. Greg Baker officiating. Pallbearers are Bill Kitchen, Kevin Brown, Paul Strickland, Donald Brown, Randy Brown, & Charles Raino. Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of Union Baptist Church and grandchildren. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home, Inc, in Hamburg.
