Mr. Clifton Henry Hawkins, 72 of Hamburg, AR (Pine Hill Community) died Friday, January 30, 2015 at his residence. He was a lifelong resident of Ashley County, a retiree of Georgia Pacific Plywood Mill, and was a member of Campground A.M.E. Church.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Nanette Hawkins Green in 1988, his father, Preston Hawkins, two brothers, Jerry Allen Hawkins & Franklin D. Hawkins, two sisters, Audrey Hughes & Martha Hendrix. Cliff was a loving husband and father. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Crooked Creek Hunting Club. He loved rodeo's, riding his horses and teaching children how to ride horses. He was known for training horses and his love for people, and people loved Cliff.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mrs. Erma Gibbs Hawkins, one son, Clifford Hawkins, wife Linda of Hamburg, AR, four daughters: Sherry Hawkins & Ameera Hawkins of Hamburg, AR, Gwendolyn Hawkins of Camden, AR, Michelle Williams, husband Mike of Crossett, AR, his mother, Juanita "Nita" Hawkins of Crossett, AR, one brother, Preston Hawkins, Jr., wife Edith of Crossett, AR, three sisters: Ruby Hubbard, husband Freddie of Little Rock, AR, Thelma Hawkins & Eula Hawkins both of Crossett, AR, eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones.
Funeral services are Friday, February 6, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Gates Chapel A.M.E. Church with Rev. Carl Hammock, officiating. Pallbearers are Curtis Howard, Curtis Tolliver, Jr., Jimmy Griffin, Buck James Scott, Al Hobbs & Ben Hobbs. Honorary pallbearers are the H & G Riding Club & the Crooked Creek Hunting Club. Burial in Carlock Cemetery.
Visitation Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 6-8 pm in the Cromwell Funeral Home Chapel.
