Obituary

Mr. Charles Edward "Kilroy" Moore, age 77, of Crossett, AR passed away January 25, 2022 at his residence in Crossett. He was a lifelong resident of Crossett. As a young boy , Charles was often spotted at the pool hall shining shoes, which was his first job. He was a fixture at the Greenview cafe and other places around town. The local ice cream man noticed that he saw him everywhere and nicknamed him "Kilroy"...(Kilroy was here).Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. While in the military he was a Sharpshooter and received Combat Infantryman's Badge. He fought in the Vietnam Conflict and became ill. After his recovery, he decided not to re-enlist and was honorably discharged. He was a retiree of GP paper mill where he worked in Maintenance as an oiler for 44 years. He was a member of the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. He regularly attended 5 a.m. prayer. Afterwards, he called each of his daughters to wake them up, give fatherly advice and to make sure they were going to work and if not, why?

He was preceded in death by his parents Adrian and Agnes Moore; brothers Samuel Johnson, Alvin Moore, and Richard Weekly; and sister Betty Weekly.

He united in holy matrimony with Sheri Ann Simpson. They lovingly parented four children and nurtured a nephew who lived in the home. Charles was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved his church where he served as a deacon and trustee. He loved the Lord, his family, the Pittsburg Steelers and blues music.

He is survived by his wife Sheri Moore; daughters Kimberly Burkett, Shandyla "Shan" (Roderick) Kidd, Jasmine Moore all of Crossett, AR, and Kristie (Rodney) Harrison of Monroe, LA; a nephew he raised as his own Wayne (Athena) Simpson Jr., of Granada Hills, CA; sisters Mabel Tinnin of Crossett, AR, Wanda(Acie) Belcher of Warren, AR, and Dorothy Burwell of Lake View Terrace, CA; grandchildren Kahmron Hymes of Grafenwohr, Germany and Jaisley Taylor of Crossett, AR; sister in laws Arzetta Johnson of Flint, MI, and Linda (Michael) Hairston of Van Nuys, CA; brother in laws Wayne (Yvonne) Simpson of Palmdale, CA, Richard (Deanna) Townsell of Lake View Terrace, CA, and William "Bill" Duff, of Chicago, IL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special sons, daughters, and friends.
