Mr. Charles Earl Givins, 66 of Denver, CO, formerly of Crossett, AR, passed away Wednesday March, 19, 2014 at his residence. He was a native of Moscow, AR, and a resident of Denver for the past 40 years. He was a US Army and a US Postal Service Retiree. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pauletta and Forest Givins, and one brother, Daniel Brown.
Mr. Givins retired from the US Army after 20 years of service to his country. He received the following honors: National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Professional Development Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, three Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Expert Badge with Rifle Star.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Anna Evelyn Lajune Givins, one son, Frederick L. Givins (Kandice) of Denver, CO, four brothers: Rev. Earnest Brown (Tomasene) of Merino Valley, CA, Cleodis Cyphes (Patricia) of Milwaukee, WI, Larry Bankston (Patricia) of Birmingham, AL and Dexter Pridgeon of Dallas, TX, seven sisters: Freddie Loggins (Rev. Eddie) of Crossett, AR, Irma Ferba (Willie) of Chicago, IL, Emma Bankston of Arlington, TX, Vera Pippins (Howard), Carolyn Bankston, Joandres Stephens (Dennis) all of Arlington, TX & Pam Ford (Don) of Grand Prairie, TX, four sisters-in-law, Mary Johnson & Charlotte Modisett both of Crossett, AR, Joyce M. Glover & Melvalene Bradley both of Milwaukee, WI, two brothers-in-law, Elvis "Big Man" Bradley of Milwaukee, WI and Thomas "Butch" Bradley of Crossett, AR, one uncle, Robert Earl Bankston (Arlene) of Star City, AR, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services are Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 1:00 pm at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie B. Loggins & Pastor Jesse Radford, Jr., officiating. Active pallbearers are Michael Loggins, George Banister, Jr., Edmond Johnson, Anthony Hambric, Donnielle Ford, Caroll Williams and Darrell Banister. Honorary pallbearers are Gene Johnson, Joshua Gilbert, Joe Johnson, Edwin Walker, Chad Jones and Eddie B. Loggins, Jr. Burial in Westview Cemetery under the directions of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.
