Mr. Billy Glen Gibbs, 73 of Crossett, formerly of Hamburg (Pine Hill Community) died Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in Monroe, LA. He was born on June 7, 1941, was a lifelong resident of Ashley County, was a retired timber worker and a member of Fudge Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Lovie Louvinia Womack Gibbs, two brothers, Elvin & Lindburg Gibbs, one sister, Elena Davis and one grandson, Jhirmekyo Pugh. Billy was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish, hunt and ride horses. He was a member of the Crooked Creek Hunting Club.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Juanita Girtman Gibbs, two sons, Curtis Pugh of Crossett, AR, Ron Collins of Winnfield, LA, four daughters: Lisa Gibbs, Faye Gibbs, Senetta Gibbs & Sandra Lewis, husband Lexie all of Crossett, AR, three brothers: Sherman Gibbs and James Gibbs both of Crossett, AR, Richard Gibbs of Hamburg, AR, two sisters, Erma Hawkins, husband Clifton of Hamburg, AR & Vickie Scott, husband Michael of Crossett, AR, fourteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Funeral services are Monday, September 29, 2014 at 11:00 am at Holly Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Hill with Rev. James Green, officiating. Pallbearers are Marcus Williams, Anthony Lewis, Clifford Hawkins, Daryll Gibbs, James Hampton, III and Marcus Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are Crooked Creek Hunting Club, Tony Barnes, Kevin Cason, Jamal Cason, Kenneth Cason, Antreal Pugh, Adarrius Gibbs & Eric Collins. Burial in Carlock Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 5-6 pm in the chapel of Cromwell Funeral Home.
