Mrs. Billie Jean Simpson, 54 of Crossett, AR, died Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado. Mrs. Simpson was a native of Beekman, LA, but a resident of Crossett, a nurses assistant, and a member of Temple of Deliverance Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Simpson in April 2003, and by her parents, Melvin & Goldmer Lee Givens.
She is survived by three sons: Clifton, wife Cindy Simpsonof Crossett, AR, Kevin, wife Alisa Simpson of Camden, AR & Melvin Simpson of Fayetteville, SC, two daughters, Sheila Simpson & Evelyn Givens both of Crossett, AR, two brothers, Melvin Givens, Jr., of Baton Rouge, LA & Virgil Givens of Ossining, NY and one sister, Betty Johnson of Ossining, NY and twelve grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Gates Chapel AME Church with Pastor Cindy Simpson, officiating. Pallbearers were Melvin & Kelvin Simpson, Clyde Simpson, Jr., Rosario Ford, Robert Thomas, Lamarco Williams, Tim Webb & Wayne Shepard. Honorary pallbearers were Deacons and Trustees of Temple of Deliverance & Smith Temple Church. Burial was in Beekman Cemetery under the directions of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.
