Mrs. Betty Lou New, age 88, of Crossett, AR, died Tuesday, April 19th, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family. She is a native of Ingalls, AR. She was a homemaker, and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Roger D. New, during May of 2013, a son, Michael McClain, during December of 2006, her parents, James Robert and Dessie Colvin-Temple, a brother, James Robert Temple Jr., five sisters, Agnus Owens, Sarah Williamson, Louise Burchfield, Maxine Dixon, and Martha Vardiman. Betty was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing, fishing, camping, and cooking.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty Sue Jeffers and Beverly McClain, both of Crossett, AR, one step-son, Roger David New of Farmerville, LA, a brother, George E. Rice, wife Beverly, of Vicksburg, MS, four grandchildren, Ashley Shaw, Alvin Brad Boykin, Charles Jeffers Jr., and Joella Garcia-Smith, seven great-grandchildren, Abigail Shaw, Andy O'Neal Shaw, Jessica Williams, Alvin Austin Boykin,  Katelynn Smith, Kathrynn Smith and Johnny Smith, and one great-great grandchild, Maverick Shane Rice.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 22nd, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Cromwell Funeral Home with Brother Andy Connard officiating. Burial will follow after service at the Crossroad Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Dusty Clark, Mickie New, Matthew New, Ross Sinks, Alvin Austin Boykin, and Joe Dan Doss.

Honorary Pallbearers: David Thomas and Michael New.

Services entrusted to Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 21, 2022, from 6-8 p.m. at Cromwell Funeral Home.
