Betty Lee Mays, age 75, of Memphis, TN, formally of Crossett, AR entered into the Heavenly Gates Saturday, December 25, 2021. She was born in Rayville, LA, but raised in Bastrop, LA. She is a retired employee of the Crossett School District where she worked for over 20 years.  She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her husband William Mays; grandson Calvin Robinson; granddaughter Christine Dumas; parents Mathis and Maggie Lawrence; and birth parents Leroy and Nettie Jackson.

Betty was a devoted mother. She was also a beloved neighbor and friend. She enjoyed visiting with family, cooking, traveling, and going to church.

She is survived by seven children Amelia (Wayne) Prescott, Jamie (Charles) Mays- Russell, and John Dumas all of Millington, Tennessee, William Dumas of Crossett, AR, Andrew Mays of Arkansas, Matthew Dumas of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Maggie (Marquis) Evans of Las Vegas NV; she was also step-mother to ten other children; one brother Leroy (Alice) Jackson of Houston, TX; one sister Nettie (Paul) Samuels of Houston, TX; ten grandchildren Deja Dumas, Mia Prescott, Jeremiah Russell, Kiaia Evans, John Dumas, Marquis Evans II, Mister Dumas, and Makayla Evans, Billy Mays, and Nancy Mays; twenty five step-grandchildren; great- grandchildren Tizyrion Washington and Xavier Dumas; and a host of other family members and friends.

Graveside Service 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Westview Cemetery in Crossett, AR with Bro. Kelvin Ware officiating. Pallbearers Charles Russell, Kevin Simpson, Bro. Eddie Austin, Bro. Raymond, Bro. Marvin Jones, and Matthew Dumas.
