Mrs. Betty Jean Harris, 85 of Crossett, AR, died Friday, October 10, 2014 at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Crossett, a former employee of Georgia Pacific Plywood Mill, and was a member of Gates Chapel A.M.E. Church. She was also an Eastern Star, member of Silver Star #306.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie James "A.J." Harris, Jr., two sons, Donald & Archie Wendell Harris, two brothers, John & William Sims, and two sisters, Blanche Benford & Nellie Terry. Mrs. Betty loved the Lord, and served on the Steward board at Gates Chapel. She also loved to shop, dress nice and look good.
She is survived by one son, Eddie Charles Sims of Crossett, AR, two daughters, Jacqueline Rhodes, husband Curtis of Crossett, AR, Linda Henderson of Rockford, IL, ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and loved ones.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 17, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Gates Chapel A.M.E. Church with Rev. Harriel White & Rev. Tyrone Broomfield officiating. Active pallbearers are Herman Newton, Elbert Ray Gibbs,Tony Allen, Terrian Keys, Johnny Mack & Tony Tatum. Honorary pallbearers are Stewards & Trustees of Gates Chapel & members of Silver Star #306. Burial in Westview Cemetery.
Visitation from 6-8 pm, Thursday, October 16 at Cromwell Funeral Home.
