Mr. Artis Lee Jefferson, Jr., age 75, of Monticello, died Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Drew Memorial Hospital. Mr. Jefferson was a native of Lacey, but a resident of Monticello, a retired laborer, and a member of Holy Divine Church.

He was preceded in death by son, James Jefferson; daughter, Jean Jefferson; parents, Artis Lee & Celia Sawyer Jefferson; and sister, Liza Mae Sawyer. He is survived by four sons, Tracey, Rickey, Randy, and Roy Jefferson, all of Little Rock; three daughters, Hattie Mae Veasey of Michigan City, IN, Lecinda Miller of Dallas, Tx, and Melinda Sims of Seagoville, Tx; two brothers, Arthur Lee Jefferson of St. Louis, MO, and Johnny Sawyer of Little Rock; three sisters, Betty Block of Monticello, AR, Maella Jefferson Thomas and Maurin Jefferson Ward all of St. Louis, MO; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 10:30 a.m., Holy Divine Church in Lacey with Rev. Melvin Foster officiating. Burial will be a Piney Grove Cemetery.
