Obituary

Aretha Kenzadie Darlester LaFranklin Herring Carolina Moseby, age 89 of Portland, AR transitioned on Saturday April 6, 2024, at her home surrounded by family. She was a native of Boydell, AR, a member of St. Peter Baptist Church, and a retired Certified Nursing Assistant for the Area Agency on Aging.

She was preceded in death by a son: Charles Henry "Michael" Moseby (1982), infant daughter LaTonya Moseby, her parents Will and Clara Carolina, four brothers James, William, Jewel, and Louis Carolina; six sisters Dorothy Bethune, Nebraska Carolina, Murial Watts, Evelyn Cleary, Johnnie Mae Oliver, and Monzella Rowels. Aretha loved her family and her church family. She enjoyed watching basketball and was an avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan, fishing, working puzzles, and shopping.

She leaves to cherish her memories: six sons, Leotis Marshall of Dermott, AR, Edward Moseby, Jr., of Portland, AR., John L. Moseby wife Carla of Milwaukee, WI., Zimmie Moseby wife Casandra of Portland, AR., Reginald Moseby wife Erica of Sherwood, AR., and Eric Moseby wife Jennifer of Benton, AR. Five daughters Margaret Gholson husband Jeffery of Oakland, TN., Ruth Lofton husband Daryl of Arlington, TN., Beulah Askew husband Dirk of St Louis, MO., Vera Leazer husband Naryan of Milwaukee, WI., and Rose Smith husband Patrick of Portland, AR. One brother Henry Carolina wife Virgil of Montrose, AR., and a twin sister Teretha Woods of Montrose, AR., twenty-seven grandchildren, forty-eight great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

Funeral Service will be Saturday April 13, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. at Saint Peter Baptist Church in Montrose, AR., with Pastor Byron Lewis officiating. Active Pallbearers are Edward Moseby III, Tyrin Moseby, Eric Moseby, Jr., John Moseby Jr., Trentice Moseby, Adam Martin, Jr., Thomas Scholle-Malone, and LaTrevious Armour. Honorary Pallbearers are Leotis Marshall, Edward Moseby, Jr., John L. Moseby, Zimmie Moseby, Reginald Moseby, Eric Moseby, Naryan David Leazer, and Patrick Smith. Burial to follow at Saint Marion Cemetery in Sunshine, AR., under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home, Inc.
