Allen Stroud, 79 of Portland, AR, transitioned Thursday, February 20, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was a lifelong resident of Portland, and a retired farm laborer. He was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Irma Hill Stroud, a son, Michael Stepps, two sisters, Mary Akins, and Elizabeth B. Harris.  Mr. Stroud was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed doing yard work and working in his vegetable garden.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Carrie Stroud, four sons, Kelvin and wife Fatima Stepp of Little Rock, AR, Kevin and wife April Stroud of Crossett, AR, John Wilson of Bastrop, LA, and James and wife Egra Wilson of Pine Bluff, AR, three daughters, Mildred and husband Lardell Wilson, Sharon and husband Thomas Debose, and Karen Minneweather all of Bastrop, LA, twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation is Friday, February 28, 2025, 5:00-6:00 P.M. at Cromwell Funeral Home. Funeral service is Saturday, March 1, 2025 11:00 A.M. at Cromwell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Stepp officiating.  Active pallbearers are Lardell Johnson, James Wilson, Paris Wilson, K'Vonte Stroud, John Wilson, and Byron Minneweather. Burial in Montrose Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg, AR.
