Mr. A.D. Davis, 83 of Crossett, AR, died Sunday, July 26, 2009 at the Ashley County Medical Center. Mr. Davis was a native of Wilmot, but resided in Crossett. He was a retiree of Georgia Pacific Plywood Mill, and Securitas Security, and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church (Crossett Camp). He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin & Clorene Clayborne Davis. He served in the United States Navy, and was a mason, member of Exodus Lodge #403.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Mrs. Carolyn Davis, four sons: Sinclaire Higgins of Oakland, AR, Alfred Davis & Elvin Gibbs both of Crossett, AR and Darrell (Monica) Carter of Hamburg, AR, eleven daughters: Beverly (Henry) Fenceroy, LaJetta (Raynard) Hammock, Gloria Carter, Alecia Davis, Latayja Davis, Lawanda Carter, Carol Girtman, Rachel Gibbs, Stacie Gibbs, Diana Gibbs & Aletha Gibbs all of Crossett, AR, one brother, Huey Shelton of Wilmot, AR, one sister, Naomi Norman of Bastrop, LA, one aunt, Georgia Randolph of Wilmot, AR, thirty-one grandchildren and twelve great-grandchldren.
Services were Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 1:00 PM at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Jackson, officiating. Pallbearers are Tommy Edwards, Andre Davis, Anthony Davis, Timothy Johnson, Darryl Jackson and Maurice Howard. Honorary pallbearers are members of Exodus Lodge #403. Burial in Nimmons Cemetery on highway 425, south of Hamburg.
