Obituary

Mr. Abraham "Abe" Shaw, 80 of Crossett, AR, died Friday, February 6, 2009 at the Ashley County Medical Center. Mr. Shaw was a native of Hamburg, AR, but a resident of Crossett for the past 22 years, a retired timber worker, and a member of Phillip Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one son, Abraham Shaw, Jr., one daughter, Leola Gilbert, his father, Willie Shaw, his mother, Lucille Haynes Davis, one grandson, Rodney Shaw, one brother, Will Davis, Jr. & three sisters, Mary Lou Green, Emily "Jaybird" Johnson & Betty Scates. Mr. Shaw served as a Deacon at Phillip Grove Baptist Church. He served his country in the US Army and was also a Mason, serving as past worship master of Hamburg Lodge 232.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mrs. Eunice Shaw, two sons, Demargo Shaw & Willie "Bo Pete" Shaw both of Little Rock, AR, four sisters: Sarah Jacob, Icola Watkins & Janice Lambert all of Hamburg, AR & Willie Jean Brown of Crossett, AR, three grandchildren, Veronica Martin, Herman Gilbert & Tasha Shaw and eight great-grandchildren.

Services are Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Phillip Grove Baptist Church with Rev. John Childress, officiating. Pallbearers are George Jacob, Jr., Newt Washington, Ray Preston, Thaddius Richard, James Adams & Cain Webb. Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of Phillip Grove Church, The Dominio Club & Nephews. Burial in Phillip Grove Cemetery.
